INTRODUCING JimJAZZ mouse and his musical friends …
JimJAZZ mouse is a brand new character whose adventures will help the young reader explore the world of musical instruments and colour. The series takes a unique, contemporary approach to introducing children to how music is made, with instruments brought to life as colourful characters.
JimJAZZ mouse lives at Fromage Cottage. He likes to play and record jazz music in his studio with his friends Trevor Fox and Fiona Bear, then he sends the music to his website at www.JimJAZZmouse.com
JimJAZZ mouse also features in a series of 16 paperback and 3 hard back books with an accompanying series of fully featured DVD’s which provide vibrant full colour introductions to musical instruments. Each book tells a story, which takes place over the seven days of the week. JimJAZZ mouse and his friends learn about the seven colours of the rainbow on different days of the week, each colour is associated with an emotion or situation, providing a positive experience of music and colour. The stories also tell children in a fun way, how to play an instrument and what sound it makes. Each book includes a double page spread of useful facts and a history about the instrument featured, which will also be useful for parents and teachers.
JimJAZZ mouse website offers a multitude of interactive games, story telling, movies and sounds. Children can play their own tune on a virtual keyboard and record it and play it back for others to hear. There are educational areas for teachers and music practice with drums and keyboard. Try it out at www.JimJAZZmouse.com.
The sixteen stories will also be available on audio CD and DVD and on the website.
AUTHOR BACKGROUND
David Hughes is a painter, writer, poet and film maker. He has been visiting Pembrokeshire for many years and finally bought a cottage there in 2002. It was here that he conceived the idea for JimJAZZ mouse. He felt it was important that JimJAZZ mouse was a modern character so from the very beginning, JimJAZZ mouse has had his own website to which he uploads his music so that computers and the internet are part of his everyday life, just like they are for children today.
